Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
