Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
